This online community is managed by Ipsos MORI UK Limited on behalf of BMW. Ipsos MORI UK Limited is a specialist research agency, commonly known as “Ipsos MORI”. Ipsos MORI is a member of the Market Research Society, registered in the England at 3 Thomas More Square, London, E1W 1YW under company number 01640855. In all the communications Ipsos MORI will send to our community members, we will always clearly state our identity and our contact address.
Membership of the BMW Community and undertaking of any activities therein is completely voluntary. You can decide to terminate your membership at any time.
This privacy statement explains how we use the personal information we collect about you, how we share it and what your legal rights are.
What personal data do we collect about you?
Personal data is information that directly or indirectly identifies you as an individual. We collect the personal data, (“information”) you provide to us when joining the community. This data includes your name and address, email, phone number. We will also collect your unique device identifier.
The primary purpose, why we collect information from you is to manage the BMW Community, a customer engagement site, in order to ask you to take part in activities that will help BMW to offer better services to you.
In certain cases, we might also use your information for the purpose of interview and data quality.
We have collected your personal information via your registration form on joining the community.
Ipsos MORI will keep your data confidential and will only use your contact details for managing this online Community and to contact you if you have a query or complaint relating to your BMW or your BMW customer experience. Please note that you will not be identifiable in any survey results reported to BMW.

Who your personal data is shared with?
Ipsos MORI is working with certain supplier organisations to run the community and will need to disclose your personal information to these supplier organisations for that purpose.
Where necessary, we will commission other companies and individuals to perform certain tasks contributing to our services on our behalf within the framework of data processing agreements. We may, for example, provide personal data to agents, contractors or partners for hosting our databases and applications, for data processing services, or to send you information that you requested, or to call-centres for the purpose of provision of support services or interviewing in the course of market research projects. We will only share with or make accessible such data to external service providers to the extent required for the respective purpose. This data may not be used by them for any other purposes, in particular not for their own or third party purposes.

Ipsos MORI has an ongoing partnership with Check it Out Ltd, an external preferred supplier, to perform certain data management services and facilitate members' membership of the online community:
- When customers first join the community, we will ask certain personal information in order to facilitate invites, target activities, improve results analysis and monitor the composition of the community.
- During membership of the community members will be asked to take part in activities and their responses will be collated for analysis.
- Once a certain number of activities have been completed members will be able to use incentive points to ‘buy’ items from the online catalogue.
- Members may request to be removed from the online community at any time
In each of these cases personal information will be shared with Check it Out Ltd in order to facilitate the required action. Ipsos MORI’s external service providers are contractually bound to respect the confidentiality of your personal data.

The online community is specifically open to adult BMW customers who agree to take part. Thus, we will not interview children (a person under 16) or allow them to be members of the online community.
How long will we keep the information you provide?
Ipsos MORI, in managing this community for BMW, will only retain your data in a way that can identify you for as long as is necessary to support the research project and findings. In practice, when you are no longer an active member of the Community, we will securely remove your personal identifying data from our systems and those of our suppliers.
You are an ‘active member of the Community’ when you have logged onto the Community in the last 6 months.

How do We ensure Your personal information is secure?
Ipsos MORI takes its information security responsibilities seriously and applies various precautions to ensure your information is protected from loss, theft or misuse. Security precautions include appropriate physical security of offices and controlled and limited access to computer systems. Ipsos MORI has regular internal and external audits of its information security controls and working practices, and is accredited to the International Standard for Information Security, ISO 27001.
All your personal data used and collected for this Community will be stored by Ipsos MORI in data centres and servers within the United Kingdom and EEA.
